Insulation Work in Thornbury, Grey County

Thornbury is a small town in The Blue Mountains municipality on Georgian Bay in Grey County. It sits at the base of the Niagara Escarpment and is best known as the gateway to Blue Mountain ski resort and the surrounding orchards and wine country. A significant portion of the local housing stock started as seasonal cottages or ski chalets that are now being used year-round. These properties were never designed for four-season living and their insulation reflects that. Crawl spaces, rim joists, and uninsulated wall assemblies are common on the older seasonal stock.

Victory Insulation is based in Cambridge and serves Thornbury and the surrounding Grey County area. Every job is handled by the owner. No call centres. No crews you have never met.

Closed Cell Spray Foam - Technical

Why Closed Cell Is the Right Choice for Thornbury

Ontario's climate demands a product that insulates, air seals, and manages moisture all at once. Closed cell spray foam does all three. We do not install open cell foam - it does not meet the performance requirements for most Ontario applications.

R-6 to R-7

Per Inch of Thickness

Among the highest R-values per inch of any common insulation. Two inches on a rim joist delivers approximately R-14. Three inches at the attic deck hits R-21 before any additional insulation is added. Critical in thin assemblies where batt insulation cannot perform.

2" or more

Vapour Barrier at 2 Inches

Closed cell spray foam at 2 inches meets Ontario Building Code vapour barrier requirements. No separate poly sheet required in most applications. Eliminates the moisture and air sealing failures that are standard with batt insulation in Ontario crawl spaces and rim joists.

Permanent

Does Not Degrade

Closed cell spray foam does not compress, settle, absorb moisture, or lose R-value over time. It bonds permanently to wood, concrete, and steel. Once installed correctly it maintains its performance for the life of the building with no maintenance required.
